I have an old Compaq Evo 230 and I was wondering whether I should upgrade the HDD to a newer one, and the 1GB of ram to 1.5GB, or whether the system will run fine with the current configuration.

I do some video editing, editing AVI files mostly. And I tried the new ATI Radeon HD4870 and I found that my video is on a regular pace (although not maximum, not yet, but not slow either, actually quite a good performance, I am satisfied).

But that’s not the point. I am looking for some tools like video editing, etc. for Windows, and the new Radeon HD4870 could be a good way to go.

I would always suggest upgrading the hard drive. And you don’t need to pay for the Vista premium edition. Just get a retail copy of Vista home premium and install it yourself.

I upgraded to a faster processor and a 128 GB SSD. Everything is lightning fast now, including Photoshop and video editing programs. I also got an HD5570 video card in it. I now can run most games just fine on medium or high settings.

The most recent version of adobe photoshop CS6 can be downloaded from adobe.com for free. I have CS6, CS5, and CS4 running on all my machines.

I had no problems with the 4870 either, and I have a video card that is slightly older than the 4870, and my older card could play Crysis 2 at 1920×1080 on ultra with no issues.

Again, I don’t do any video editing, but I work mostly with photos, and have been using Photoshop since CS3.

When ever you create a property and store a string value, you get a reference to the internal C string NSString, and thus in order to get the value you could just use the stringValue property. Now if you want to get it without knowing the name of the field, you can use the setter and get the value from the field.
